Quality control and measurement

A coating is verified by measurement, not by looking. What we check, and at which stage.

Incoming inspection

Material, surface condition and geometry are checked. If there is rust, scale, weld slag or old paint, the part is routed to blasting.

Pretreatment bath control

Bath concentration and rinse-water conductivity are monitored. When these two drift, the conversion layer weakens, and the result shows in the field years later.

Oven regime

Temperature and time in the oven are monitored from the single-point PLC panel. An under-cured film does not fully cross-link; an over-cured film yellows.

Film thickness

The cured coating thickness is measured in microns. A thin film compromises protection; a thick film compromises appearance and edge coverage.

Adhesion

Adhesion is checked by cross-hatch. When adhesion is weak, the problem is almost always in pretreatment.

Appearance and colour

Colour, gloss, orange peel, contamination and uncoated areas are checked. RAL code and gloss are compared against the approved sample.
